Make It Yours: A Blank Canvas Wedding Venue in Fife

We’ve had a hot air balloon basket in the bar, mariachi bands flown in from London and a ballroom-dancing couple who brought their own dancefloor. Apparently, it had extra bounce. There was also an opera singer who sang his vows. It’s fair to say that no two weddings here are quite alike.

That’s the appeal of a blank canvas wedding venue. You can bring something of yourselves to the day, whether that involves an entire mariachi band or simply serving the pudding you both love.

A blank canvas wedding venue with a life before weddings

The Rhynd was a working cattle shed until the late 1990s. When we started restoring it, the roof leaked and ferns were growing on the walls. We thought a few replacement tiles might do the job. Several rotten beams and an entire roof later, we knew better.

The first wedding took place in December 2016. Today, the old beams and walls are part of what makes the place feel like The Rhynd. You don’t have to hide them behind decorations, and you certainly don’t have to fill every corner.

Start with the things you’re excited about. Perhaps it’s everyone sitting down to a long dinner, a particular band or flowers that remind you of someone. Those are useful things to build a wedding around. Find out more....

How much do you want to organise

Some couples love choosing every last detail. Others enjoy the ideas considerably more than the prospect of coordinating deliveries. Both are perfectly reasonable positions.

Tell us which bits you’d like to do yourselves and where you would welcome some help. We can talk through the planning support available and what it includes. Before booking, make sure you understand who is supplying, setting up and looking after each part of the day.

The same goes for any unusual plans. We love hearing ideas, but do discuss them with us before anything is ordered. Past weddings are inspiration, rather than a promise that every arrangement will suit every booking. For more ideas download our brochure.

Make it yours

You might want to do something completely unexpected. You might want good food, favourite music and all your people in one room. There’s no competition for the most inventive wedding.

Come and see our barn near St Andrews, with your ideas or without them. It’s much easier to imagine where everyone will sit, eat and dance when you’re standing in the space. We’ll show you around, answer your questions and help you work out whether The Rhynd feels right for you.
