The team
We're extremely lucky to have an amazing team here at The Rhynd, from the cleaners to the maintenance crew. If you come to see us for a wedding or an event, it's the team below you'll meet!
Lisa Foster
Being a partner in the business, I am involved in almost every aspect of it. However, I love focussing on the events and corporate bookings when I am not juggling our young children. If you don't find me at The Rhynd, I'll be trying to catch a decent wave at West Sands, or telling my husband Ed not to have any more stupid ideas.
Jack Baldwin
Before coming to The Rhynd, I was the sous chef at the Michelin-starred Peat Inn and, before that, I was head chef at Haar. I absolutely love home-grown and locally sourced produce, and we've taken that to a whole new level here at The Rhynd with our own pigs, venison and polytunnel. Something people might not know? I was a drummer in a band before I was a chef!
Kiera Findlay
Before arriving at The Rhynd, I worked as a waitress, but I've taken on lots more responsibility in the café and on events. I love how expansive my role is and there are plenty of learning opportunities. When I'm not talking, I'm usually singing, although I try and keep this to a minimum when I am working!
Matthew Gibson
Having been a breakfast supervisor at a hotel, I arrived at the Rhynd the day it opened back in June 2017 and I’ve been here ever since! I love it when customers leave happy and want to return, and I always try and remember everyone’s usual orders. A weird fact about me? I used to be able to lick my elbow before I got old.
Chloe Gray
I spent over 15 years working in hospitality and events and, just before coming to the Rhynd, I was a sales and office manager with a corporate event company. Before that, I trained to be a professional dancer, but (thankfully!) injury halted that career path. I love how dynamic the Rhynd is – no week is the same, and there is always something new happening! There’s always an opportunity to get stuck in and learn new things.
Athene Mackenzie-Smith
I used to manage a fine-dining restaurant in Perth before coming to The Rhynd in 2025. I love our regular customers that come in every week, as well as the exciting events we do, the team and bosses that say 'yes' to most requests! Most people already know this, but I do love diving with sharks in my spare time.
Mia Scobie
I came to The Rhynd straight from school and have been here since xxxxx. I enjoy being behind the coffee machine, and love the exciting events we host both here in the café and up at The Craw's Nest. I am training to be a nurse at the moment, and, if it all goes wrong, I can make a tourniquet from a bra.
